The Signing of Kalimantan Universities Consortium (KUC) MoU

Kalimantan Universities Consortium (KUC) is a regional consortium in Kalimantan consists of 6 universities, namely Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN), Universitas Mulawarman, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, Universitas Balikpapan, Universitas Borneo Tarakan and Universitas Palangkaraya.The formation of KUCwas initiated by Directors of International Affairs Office and Deans of Economics Faculty meeting from Kalimantan region in UNTAN last April. Then the MoU signing on the establishment of KUC was agreed to be held on Wednesday, May 27th, 2015 at UNTAN Rectorate Building. In addition, based on the IAO and deans meeting, UNTAN was trusted to be the president of KUC for two years. Rector of UNTAN will be acting as Chairperson of the Steering Committee, while the Director of IAO UNTAN, Dr.-Ing. Seno D. Panjaitan will be acting as the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee. The MoU signing ceremony was included in the opening ceremony of “Seminar Nasional Penerapan Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi (PIPT) Dies Natalis UNTAN ke-56 tahun 2015.

The signing of KUC MoU was conducted by the rectors of six universities and accompanied by the directors of international affairs office of each university as the witnesses. The delegates who attended the signing ceremony were(a). Prof. Dr. H. Thamrin Usman, DEA and Dr.-Ing. Seno D. Panjaitan (Rector and Director IAO of Universitas Tanjungpura); (b). Prof. Dr. Sutarto H. Hadi, M.Si, M.Sc and Arief Budiman, SE, MMktg, Ph.D (Rector and Director IAO of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat); (c). Prof. Dr. H. Masjaya, M.Si and Rudianto Amirta, Ph.D (Rector and Director of International Services of Universitas Mulawarman); (d). Dr. Bambang Widigdo (Rector of the Universitas Borneo Tarakan); (e). Dr. H. Suhartono, SE, MM and Drs. Hotman Simajuntak (Rector and Head of Admission and Cooperation Bureau Universitas Balikpapan); (f). Prof. Sulmin Gumiri, M.Sc. (Director of IAO Universitas Palangkaraya).

Several agreements that will be executed together under the MoU of KUC are: international activities, lecturer and student exchange, resource sharing, sharing partner, joint research, joint conferences and so forth. This consortium is expected to create a mutual relationship among all parties involved therein. KUC will also supporting the development programs in progress of Kalimantan. In the future, this team will establish a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian Directorate General of Railways regarding the preparation and construction of railway lines in Kalimantan.
